WEEKS of anxious waiting will soon be at an end for thousands of GCSE students and, whether it's congratulations or commiserations, an apprenticeship could be the perfect next step.
Chris Longmate - managing director at Positive Outcomes
Positive Outcomes is one of the UK's top ten training providers. It is urging students who have left school this summer to consider applying for an apprenticeship as the first move towards a successful career, while gaining nationally recognised qualifications.
And the company's dedicated apprenticeship website, Paid to Learn, is the perfect place for anyone interested in an apprenticeship once they have received their results on Thursday, 22 August.
Chris Longmate, managing director at Positive Outcomes, said: "For those leaving school, including those who may not have achieved results quite as high as expected, apprenticeships are a great option.
"It is an ideal choice for those who want to start earning a salary, continue their education, earn a valued qualification and also gain practical work-based skills that are essential in today's employment market."
Positive Outcomes has seen a huge growth in the number of 16-18 year olds taking on one of its apprenticeship courses which was why, a year ago, it decided to set up its dedicated Paid to Learn apprenticeship website for the age group. It features more than 100 live apprenticeship vacancies, opportunities to ask the experts, top advice and real life case studies.
Chris Longmate, managing director of Positive Outcomes, said: "Apprenticeships are a great option for young people and nine out of ten of our apprenticeships lead to full-time employment with the same employer at the end of the qualification.
"When it's so difficult for school leavers to take their first step on their chosen career ladder, figures about the number of apprentices who manage to secure a permanent job give young people and their parents the belief that the education and practical skills they receive through an apprenticeship will not be in vain," Chris added.
For students who may have been disappointed by their GCSE results, all apprenticeships include functional skills to ensure learners who have fallen short of their expected grades gain qualifications in English, maths and IT in addition to the apprenticeship qualification.
Modern apprenticeships provide the opportunity to start out on a career in a wide range of business sectors including IT, Business Administration, Customer Service, Retail and Estate Agency meaning students can apply for jobs in areas best suited to their skills and interests.
The head office of Positive Outcomes is located at The Village Business Park by Junction 28 of the M1.
