A production of Arabian Nights was a dramatic launch at Sidcot School's annual Summer Festival celebrating artistic, sporting and prize-winning students.

Nearly 40 junior and senior pupils put on four performances which saw Scheherazade tell tales that meant a sultan spared her life and fall in love.

Sidcot School's Head of Drama, Charlotte Resuggan, said: "It's been a fantastic creative effort by students and staff with wonderful costumes and it was brilliant to perform in a huge tent."

The Summer Festival from June 20th to 24th included sports day, summer ball, fashion show, art exhibitions, gymkhana, Dymond Speech competition and prize giving.

Acting Head Elizabeth Burgess added: "Our Summer Festival is very traditional with amazing support from students and staff. It gets bigger and better every year."

Sidcot School opened in 1699 as an independent and boarding school and now has more than 500 pupils aged three to 18.

It is the only Quaker school in the South West and one of only nine in the UK.

Quakers share a way of life, not a set of beliefs. They believe in faith into action through peace, equality, simplicity and truth.
