A Bristol nursery group is celebrating its tenth birthday and is inviting families past and present along to a special party to mark the occasion.
Tony and Bev Driffield with Mama Bear
Mama Bear's Day Nursery and Pre-School opened the doors to its first nursery in Brislington on 8 February 2004 and since then the family-run business has cared for more than 5000 children and opened a further 18 settings in the South West, offering quality, affordable childcare to families.
Directors of the nursery group Tony and Bev Driffield are inviting children who have attended nursery in Brislington with them before, along with their parents, to a party filled with cakes, treats and games from 2.30-4.30 on Friday 7 February to celebrate the achievement.
Bev Driffield said: "We are so pleased to be marking our tenth birthday in Bristol and what better way to celebrate than with children we have cared for over the past decade. We have invested so much love and care into the children's early years that it will be lovely to see how they are getting on now.
"It's amazing to think back to 2004 when we poured our heart and soul into opening our first nursery in Brislington. We now have 19 settings in Bristol, Somerset and Devon and we run them all with the same home-from-home approach which focusses on getting children ready for the next big step up to primary school.
"Running nurseries has been my dream for most of my life. I have 27 years of experience in Early Education and childcare and I'm so passionate about the service we provide to families so it's amazing to have reached this milestone.
"I'd like to say a huge thanks to all the families who have supported us over the years and especially to our wonderful staff who provide the outstanding care day-on-day that we have become known for.
"Also a big Happy Birthday has to be said to Mama Bear herself, who turns 10 this week!"
Mama Bear's Day Nursery and Pre-school was first launched the aim of making high-quality, affordable childcare available to families living, working or studying in the South West.
The Day Nurseries aim to provide children with their first vital level of education to give them a head-start when they start at primary school.
Now with settings in Totterdown, Downend, Cadbury Heath, Fishponds, Soundwell, Crews Hole, Shirehampton, Hengrove and Clifton as well as others in Somerset and Devon, the business is one of Bristol's success stories.
Tony Driffield said: "It has been an incredible 10 years in Bristol from starting out with one nursery and growing the business to help families in areas where childcare provisions were below average.
"I think part of our success comes from the firm vision both Bev and I have of how we want the nurseries to run and how they feel to the families who enter them. We have created a home-from-home environment in each setting and we invest in the best facilities and staff to ensure children are both cared for and educated to the best of our ability.
"We have received an Outstanding Ofsted report every single year since 2009. This is a testament to our model and really shows the care we put into maintaining our standards.
"We have no plans to stop anytime soon, we've just opened the new Whiteladies Road and Totterdown settings, both of which are filling up quickly.
"We're really looking forward to celebrating with families at the tenth birthday party and hope to see some old faces as well as new."
All Mama Bear's nurseries are open each weekday from 7.30am to 6pm, or until 7pm on request, for 51 weeks of the year, closing between Christmas and New Year, and all bank holidays.
