CYN LAUNCHES OPEN ACCESS MUSIC NIGHTS IN KINGSWOOD

The award-winning Bristol local charity, Creative Youth Network, is promoting a new evening programme of arts events at its Urban Arts Space (formerly Urban Academy) for young people in the Kingswood area.

Activities take place at the Kingswood Estate in Britannia Road, offering weekly term-time evening classes and sessions in live music, break dance, physical theatre, graffiti, photography and music technology.

To help promote the new music activities at Urban Arts Space, Kings Oak Academy is hosting a visit by two of the tutors at Creative Youth Network, Patrick Duff and Thomas Brooman. Patrick and Thomas lead the music nights every Monday at Kingswood Estate and they are looking to recruit more young bands, singers and instrumentalists to come along to the site and explore music and make new friends.

Tim Warren, team leader of performance and participation at Kings Oak Academy, says: "We are looking forward to welcoming Patrick Duff and Thomas Brooman to the Academy on Wednesday morning and it is great to have such a prestigious artist as Patrick Duff coming in."

Bristolian Patrick Duff was lead singer with the chart band Strangelove during the 1990's and since then he has forged a solo career with two recent albums and extensive touring in the UK, Germany, Holland, Greece, Malta and Denmark.

"Creative Youth Network has a fantastic team behind it" says Tim "and I wish them all success with the Urban Arts Space courses and evenings they are running.  In addition to the music offered here at Kings Oak Academy these evening activities at Creative Youth Network provide a really good further opportunity for our young musicians".
