Council should have staged show

I UNDERSTAND that the fireworks display on the Clifton Suspension Bridge was organised by a private events firm, so what has happened to Bristol's so-called Placement Officer, Mike Bennett (pictured)? Surely this would have been part of his role.

Come to think of it we haven't heard anything about Mr Bennett for some time. Shouldn't the council tax payers be told how he whiles away his time while being paid for by the likes of me.
On second thoughts, have the councillors used their common sense for once (now that would be a major event) and fired the Placement Officer?

I WAS pleased to see how thousands of people lined the streets of Bristol and surrounding towns with excitement, in lovely sunny weather, to cheer on all those Olympic torchbearers.
One picture that I will remember is the torchbearer, Thomas Baker, running across Brunel's Suspension Bridge in Clifton with the spectacular sky burst fireworks.
