One of Bristol's leading four-star hotels has joined forces with the Hospitality Works initiative so that those looking for a job in the hospitality sector will be able to gain a valuable insight into what it takes to run a successful hotel business.

Members from the initiative visited DoubleTree by Hilton, Bristol City Centre hotel on Redcliffe Way where they were shown around the refurbished hotel and restaurant.

It is hoped that the knowledge gained from the visit will now help guide candidates to roles that apply more directly to them potentially leading to employment.

Linked to the Jobcentre Plus the idea behind Hospitality Works is to connect staff, claimants and employers to hospitality opportunities through a two-week themed Hospitality Framework.

For Jobcentre Plus staff it provides them an insight into the Hospitality Sector and the excellent opportunities it has to offer, while for claimants it will give them access to jobs, training or other opportunities within the Hospitality Sector while challenging the misconceptions about the sector.

Nicola Beaumont, HR Manager at the hotel said: "We're delighted to be part of this initiative. Hospitality is the fastest growing sector in the UK and in the next three years it will generate 250,000 new jobs, many at entry level so it's important that those considering a career in the sector get a better understanding of what's involved.

"From the hotel's perspective, we're always looking for new members of staff and if someone has already been in and seen for themselves what it's like it really helps with their career choice."

Julie Barry from Hospitality Works added: "Many companies in the sector now offer great career opportunities and it was great to be shown round DoubleTree by Hilton, Bristol. The refurbishment has really transformed the building.

"Our visit has given us a much better understanding of what this fantastic new hotel is all about so that when candidates come forward we will be able to give them a much better idea on what it's like."
