One of the BBC's latest natural wildlife programmes was screened exclusively at Bristol's newest independent cinema as it went out live on BBC Two.

Wild Brazil which featured amazing footage of the natural wildlife across South America's biggest country was produced in Bristol and the team behind the programme wanted a suitable venue to hold the premier of the new show.

Having heard about the new 26-seat cinema called The Director's Cut at Horts on Broad Street, the production team then booked the venue following a site visit realising it was ideal for their needs.

It is now hoped the corporation and other production companies in the city will use the cinema which includes soft leather club chairs, foot stools, personal tables and rugs!

Richard Fairchild, manager at Horts said: "To have the BBC screen one of its new TV shows was just amazing. The new cinema has only been opened a couple of months so we were naturally delighted to host the production team.

"It's amazing to think that as the show went out live across the network, it was being shown simultaneously here in Horts and the new cinema.

"The feedback was also very, very positive especially the sound quality, comfort and overall set up. We'll now look forward to hosting other transmission parties or events where businesses or individuals want a big screen with an intimate atmosphere."

Richard and his team are now putting in place plans to make the most of the new cinema such as screening the six nations rugby tournament and other big sporting events and hosting game console tournaments.

Anyone wanting to bring their own films or DVDS are also welcome to book the space as are businesses looking for an alternative venue for a presentation.

Richard added: "The Director's Cut is a very adaptable space and anyone looking for a big screen experience should pop along to see why this is the best independent small screen in the whole of Bristol."
