Staff from one of Bristol's best known pubs will be getting into the Christmas spirit by wearing an assortment of festive jumpers to help raise money for Save the Children.

Part of National Christmas Jumper Day, the team from Horts on Broad Street are hoping their dazzling pullovers will raise plenty of funds for the charity which saves children's lives in over 120 countries.

The team is also hoping guests who visit the venue for a drink, bite to eat or to see a film in the brand new 26-seat cinema called The Director's Cut, will also put on their Christmas finest or contribute to the cause.

Richard Fairchild, manager at Horts said: "In the run up to Christmas it's always easy to forget about those who are perhaps a little less fortunate than ourselves so we thought that by getting involved in this fun way we will help raise some cash and also a few smiles.

"A donation of just £1 really can make the difference between life and death and if we are able to help those who need it most will make this festive season one to remember."

According to Save the Children a £1 donation could pay for nine sachets of oral rehydration treatment for children suffering from diarrhoea.

£95 could pay for a midwife's training to help ensure babies are delivered safely in the poorest parts of the world.

Richard added: "We hope we won't put guests off too much with the variety of jumpers we intend to wear and hope it will bring a smile to everyone's face this Christmas."
