After two years of dedication and hard work the wait for this year's A level results is finally over at The Red Maids' School in Bristol. As the oldest existing girls' school in the country we are celebrating another year of outstanding A level, AS level and now, for the first time this year, IB Diploma results. For the seventh year in a row, we have a 100% pass rate.

The girls picked up the sealed envelopes containing their A level results in the Sixth Form Centre this morning. Senior staff were on hand to congratulate and offer advice and guidance where needed.

Four Red Maids who have achieved truly outstanding academic success in their A level results this summer epitomise the very high standards achieved across all curriculum subjects at the school.

Lauren Ellison, who joined the school in Year 7 from Westbury Park Primary School gained four A level A* grades in Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths and Physics and on top of this achieved two S grades for 'outstanding' in her mathematics Cambridge University STEP papers. Lauren is now going on to read Mathematics at Cambridge.

Two of the girls who achieved fantastic results started school life here as Junior Red Maids. Rowena Johnson scored three A* grades in her A Levels (Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics) and is going on to read Medicine at Sheffield University, where she also intends to continue Fencing at national level. Lauren Ratcliffe gained A*s in Biology and Maths and an A in Chemistry. She also gained an A* grade for her AQA Extended Project which she based on her scientific work experience with Operation Wallacea in Honduras. Lauren is going on to read Biology at Imperial College, London.

Emily Butler described herself as "absolutely delighted" with her A* in Theatre Studies and her A grades for Philosophy and Ethics, and English Literature. She is off to Reading University to study English and Politics.

These girls' successes reflect the excellent results achieved across the spectrum of subjects here at the school. 38% achieved A* in Biology and Chemistry and 36% gained an A* in Mathematics. In both Art and Technology 50% gained an A* grade and 40% achieved A* in Theatre Studies, indicating the strength of performance across different academic disciplines. Earlier in the summer the school celebrated its first ever set of International Baccalaureate Diploma results. The average diploma score was 38 points putting the school fourth in The TimesOnline league table of IB results, nationally.

Congratulations to everyone!
