One of Clifton's best restaurants has closed. Sands Lebanese restaurant on Queen's Road, Clifton, Bristol is no longer with us.

It's a big shame as I always enjoyed eating there, with good food and, if you wanted, good shishas on the terrace afterwards.

I hope that the restaurant doesn't remain empty for too long. It's a site off the beaten track, quite a hideaway, but of course only a few hundred yards from the hustle and bustle of the Triangle.

Still lots of work going on inside what used to be Sands. Intrigued about what's happening there.

I cycled by what used to be Sands earlier today and it looks like they are ripping all the fittings out. Perhaps a new venture is on the way?

I'm not sure why it closed, but I think the Mezza Bar on St Michael's Hill is owned by the same people. If anybody knows, it will be them.

A real shame, was our favourite by far with consistently excellent food. Does anyone know why it closed?
