Santa's reindeer will be bringing extra magic to Bristol Zoo from Tuesday 4 December as they arrive for the Christmas holiday.

Visitors will be able to get up-close to the reindeer and stroke their velvety noses to make a Christmas wish, or feed them their favourite food – lichen.

Christmas will also be coming early for some of the animals at Bristol Zoo Gardens as keepers hand out presents filled with tasty treats.

The two new reindeer, called Jingle and Belle, were given their favourite food - lichen - also known as reindeer moss, in their present.

The new arrivals can be seen at the Zoo until Monday, December 31

(excluding Christmas day when the Zoo is closed).

Bristol Zoo's Head of Marketing, Owain Cassidy, said: "Reindeer are a traditional part of Christmas so it's great to have them here for the festive period. They bring a real sense of magic to the Zoo."

As well as feeding the reindeer, Zoo visitors can meet Santa in his Grotto, board Bristol Zoo's Christmas train, or visit the Zoo on two new evenings of festive frolics next week.

Bristol Zoo's Winter Wonder Zoo runs on Thursday and Friday, December 20 and 21, from 5.30pm until 8pm. Visitors will be able to join in with carol singing, meet Santa's reindeer and enjoy performances from a choir, a band and story-telling around the bonfire.

The Zoo grounds will be lit up by stunning animal-shaped lights.
