Skyburst scoops top business awards

The South West's top firework company walked away with a top award at a prestigious business event held in Bristol.

As part of the Bristol Post business awards, Skyburst the Firework Co. which has bases in Bedminster and Upper Langford, North Somerset won the Family Business of the Year category.

Beating off stiff competition, the judges were impressed by a number of factors that has helped maintain the company's status as being one of the most highly regarded businesses in the region.

Skyburst is run by managing director Alan Christie, along with his wife Deb and two sons Jay and Luke. The business has a history of providing professional firework displays which dates back over 30 years and now performs displays up and down the country.

Skyburst was recently in the news after firing a magnificent display from the Clifton Suspension Bridge to mark the Olympic Torch coming to the city.

Alan Christie said: "This is a great achievement for Skyburst and for us a family. I am immensely proud that all our hard work and determination is paying off and we have been recognised as a major business in the region.

"We fire displays all over the country as well as internationally and have really made a name for ourselves within the firework industry so it's great to now be awarded in our home city.

"This year has already been fantastic with lots of jubilee displays, the terrific Suspension Bridge display and now this award is the icing on the cake. Myself and my family would like to thank the judges for this prestigious title and we hope to grow even further in the next year."
