Many elderly people are being forced out of their own homes because they can no longer climb the stairs so Access Able of St John's Lane, Bedminster have introduced the scheme which enables a stair lift to be installed within 24 hours, paid for with a monthly rental and then removed within 24 hours when it is no longer needed.
Access Able managing director Bob Sansom said: "For those who are aware that their mobility is decreasing it can give them months more time in their own home.
"A stair lift could make the difference between somebody having to convert a downstairs living room into a bedroom, or worse still, moving out of their home altogether.
"The trouble is that stair lifts are a relatively expensive item, beyond the reach of many families. We are seeing more and more people come to us for what is generally a short term need. In these circumstances it is clear the rental route is more cost effective than buying outright."
"With both new and reconditioned models available we can usually fit straight stair lifts the next working day subject to a no-cost survey."
Access Able can also supply curved stair lifts. The scheme works with an upfront fee for installation and removal and a monthly fee for the time the stair lift is in use.
