I made my first visit to the Wilkinson on the Clifton Triangle in Bristol today and walked out with a lampshade, having intended not to buy anything.

Wilko's is one of those shops that sells all sorts of things you didn't realise you needed. And they are so inexpensive that you end up buying them.

I still think it's a big shame that Borders is no longer here, and it was a bit strange walking around and remembering what was here before - the books, unrivalled selection of magazines, the CDs, DVDs and Starbucks cafe.

But it's good to see the huge space being used again after being empty for a while. When the students are back, I'm sure it will be a very busy shop.
