The best cafes in Clifton, Bristol

What are Clifton's best cafes? There can't be too many areas of the country with as many cafes as Clifton has. We are very lucky. Here is my own top-ten, in alphabetical order.
-
Rainbow Cafe, Clifton, Bristol

194f, Clifton, Bristol
-
Lahloo Pantry, Clifton, Bristol
194° Farhenheit, Boyce's Avenue
A cafe from the people behind the Albion pub over the road. You can buy a coffee here without stepping foot in the cafe, as a window opens out onto the street to serve passers-by in a rush and in need of their fix.
Cafe Du Jour, Whiteladies Road
A little bit of France in the middle of Whiteladies Road, Cafe Du Jour has a very continental feel to it, with French radio playing and the best citron presses served this side of Paris. Try their croque monsieurs as well.
Caffe Clifton, St Paul's Road
In what used to be (and still is in one corner) the reception to the hotel upstairs, Caffe Clifton is very refined. Lounge on the bed-like sofas and enjoy the light and airy surroundings. Outside seats too in the summer.
The Downs Tea Room, Stoke Road
There is no greater honour for a former Victorian toilet to be turned into a splendid cafe, and the Downs Tea Room is just that. A very popular place, espcially when the sun is shining, when outdoor tables are like gold dust.
Folk House Café, Park Street
Hidden away fown an alleyway off Park Street, the Folk House Cafe is a delight, serving homemade and very healthy food, which is always delicious too. A secret gem well worth discovering if you haven't already.
Lahloo Pantry, King's Road
Teas are a spaciality here from a business that was once solely about teas but has now opened my new favourite cafe not just in Clifton, but in Bristol. Try their Bristol Brew. The front counter is also always bursting with delicious food.
Primrose Cafe, Boyce's Avenue
A very popular Clifton cafe, beautifully positioned at the far end of Boyce's Avenue at the entrance to the Clifton Arcade. Most well-known as a cafe, by night it also transforms into a delightful restaurant. The best of both worlds.
Rainbow Cafe, Waterloo Street
Rather old-fashioned but all the better for it. I haven't been in for a while, but when I did the hot drinks choices were either a tea or a coffee. Very refreshing after being bombarded with the multitude of options elsewhere.
