Police are advising motorists to avoid the area around the M4 eastbound, if at all possible, as serious congestion is anticipated.

Fire and ambulance crews are currently at the scene with a man reportedly trapped in one of the vehicles involved.

All three lanes have been closed. Vehicles travelling from the west along the M4 are being urged to use the M49.
