Last day to vote in the Bristol Mayoral Election

Time is running out for the estimated 30,000 adults in Bristol who are eligible to vote in the city's Mayoral and the Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner elections, but who haven't yet got on the electoral register.

"Wednesday, October 31 at 5pm is the very last chance to submit a completed voter registration form," says Yvonne Dawes, the council's statutory services manager. "And it must be a completed form, with all the correct details – otherwise we can't accept it.

"The elections in November will determine who will be Bristol's first directly elected Mayor and first directly elected Police and Crime Commissioner for Avon and Somerset. This will be a watershed moment in Bristol's democratic history and every vote will count.

"So if you are eligible to vote – and want to vote and haven't registered, please complete a registration form now, before it is too late."

The elections are being held on Thursday, November 15, with the counts taking place on Friday, November 16. Fifteen candidates are standing for election as Bristol's Mayor and four are standing for election as Avon and Somerset's Police and Crime Commissioner.

Over the next few days, a booklet with information on the mayoral candidates will be posted to every registered elector. It will also be available in local libraries.
