These could all be rumours to add fuel to the fire, but I heard yesterday that Whiteladies Road, Clifton, Bristol, is due to get a number of new supermarkets. Marks & Spencers is rumoured to want to move into the former Maskreys and Waitrose into what is currently the Artillery Grounds opposite the BBC.

Add to this what we already know, that Sainsbury's is moving into the former Woolworths on Blackboy Hill and Tesco has announced its desire to move into the old Texaco garage.

Not a great time for the independents.
