7.30pm Talk by Vijay Shah about his attempts to cross Penny Ice Cap in ‘the land that never melts’.
Vijay’s experiences in the outdoors have taken him to some of the most remote parts of the world and to some of the most extreme environments. Tonight Vijay will share the story of how he attempted to cross the Penny Ice Cap on Canada’s Baffin Island.
During several attempts and over a period of years the Arctic threw everything it could Vijay and his two team mates: frostbite, huge un-crossable ice chasms, the coldest winter in 30 years, a family of polar bears and way too much thin ice…. enough to give anyone the shivers.
