A man is likely to lose sight in an eye following a serious assault in Bristol.

The attack, which occurred in the area of Park Street/Great George Street, took place between 4am and 6am today (Saturday October 20).
The victim, a man in his 20s, came out of a local club when a group of men started arguing with his friend. The victim went to lead his friend away when he was assaulted by the men. He was taken to the Bristol Royal Infirmary with a serious eye injury.
The area was cordoned off while police began their enquiries which have continued throughout the day. Anyone who witnessed the incident or knows any of the people involved should contact DC Rob Pearce from Bristol CID on 101.
