A FOSTER care agency is opening its doors this month to people who want to find out more about the challenges and rewards fostering a vulnerable youngster can bring.

Foster Care Associates (FCA) Western will be hosting a coffee morning at its Bristol office, 11 Whiteladies Road, Clifton, on June 26, 10am-1pm.

Staff will be on hand for an informal chat about taking the next steps towards a rewarding career in fostering.

FCA registered manager Johan Strydom, pictured, said: "Foster carers come from all walks of life, but they all share the ability to care for others, face challenges with enthusiasm and determination and offer vulnerable youngsters a safe and secure family environment in which to thrive.

"FCA fully supports foster carers, equipping them with the skills they need to help the children in their care achieve. FCA gives foster carers 24-hour support, on-going training and carer forums, as well as a dedicated social worker and input from therapists and education professionals.

"FCA is looking to recruit more compassionate carers that can make a positive and lasting difference to the lives of vulnerable youngsters in Bristol."

Anyone interested in finding out more about fostering go along to an FCA coffee morning or call FCA for free on 0800 0234561 or visit www.iwanttofoster.com.

So many foster parents are needed to make a difference in the lives of these children. Here's one couple who have dedicated their lives, after raising their own children, to fostering kids in need: http://tinyurl.com/d6k5whh
