MON 27 SEPT @ 9 –
GARY ALESBROOK’S “SUPER-BAND”
After a sell-out gig at The Cori earlier this year, they’re
back … this time for two nights running!!! Featuring some of the most talented
musicians on the UK scene, this outing includes PHIL KING on vocals, and a
powerhouse rhythm section of RICHIE BLAKE (Saffron Monkey) and JERRY CROZIER
COLE on guitars, DAN MOORE (Phantom Limb) on keys, and Kasabian’s IAN MATTHEWS,
drums. Ian has just returned from a tour of Australia, headlining the V
festival and supporting U2. Completing the line-up are GARY ALESBROOK,
trumpet/flugelhorn, and ANDREW KINSMAN, sax - a tight horn section who have
both recently been working with Kasabian and Noel Gallagher. With music flowing
between Rock, Soul and Funk, this will be no less than amazing! "It
started tight and kept getting tighter – freed from rock constraints, Matthews
is a perfect funk drummer replete with all the chops and capable of
machine-tooled precision. His dynamic control buoyed up the small group
elements and whipped the full band, into something the Richter Scale would have
trouble getting the measure of, to their (and our) evident pleasure, and his
locked-down empathy with bassman Blake was as good as it gets… the attentive
crowd responded with one voice, over and over, and a huge collective lit the
pub’s dark interior. My own face ached from helpless grinning as flawless solos
followed one another and the music ebbed and flowed like a remorseless funky
rip-tide." Venue 2010. ADMISSION: STRICTLY TICKET ONLY - £5 (in advance
from The Cori – on sale soon). Don’t delay – tix sold out so quickly last time
- and you really don’t want to miss this!
