BROADMEAD HAS THE X-MAS FACTOR

Broadmead will come alive this Christmas with the voices of primary school choirs from across Bristol competing in Broadmead’s first ever Christmas Choir of the Year Competition.

The Great Western Chorus will launch the event with an exclusive festive performance and radio presenters from Heart 96.3 will be there at every heat to find out which school has the all important ‘X-mas’ factor.

With Bristol’s very own Fame Academy runner-up Katie Lewis performing at the grand final and presenting the prizes to the lucky winners this competition is set to be the highlight of Broadmead’s festive season.

Every school that enters will receive a £100 donation from Broadmead and is in with the chance to win some amazing prizes including £1,000 of music equipment for first place, £500 of equipment for second place and £250 of equipment for third place.

The prize packages, specifically designed for primary schools by Zings Music, contain everything from guitars to glockenspiels and bongo drums to boomwhackers.

Jo Hawkins, Broadmead Project Manager, said: “We’re so excited about Christmas this year and really wanted to create a traditional family feel and give something back to the community. The choir competition is an amazing opportunity for local children and the prizes have been chosen so that the winning schools can enjoy playing music for years to come.

“Broadmead has a packed programme of events and alongside the choir competition there will be free family-friendly craft activities every Saturday and live music and entertainment on Thursdays and at weekends. A traditional German Christmas market will be located in Quakers Friars and Broadmead this year from the 12th November until 20th December.  We are sure our customers will be delighted with all of this as well as our huge variety of shops offering great value for money on everything they will need for Christmas.”

The competition has heats running on four consecutive Saturdays launching on Saturday 21st November. The grand final is on Saturday 19th December.

There will be one judge at each heat who will mark the choirs out of ten on musical ability, presentation and enthusiasm. Judges will be representatives from Heart 96.3, the Evening Post and Broadmead and the highest scoring choir in each heat will go through to the final.

The entry deadline is Wednesday 18th November and entering couldn’t be easier. Simply call Brooke Nolan on 0117 933 9518 for an entry pack or download it at www.bristolbroadmead.co.uk
