Joanna Yeates' landlord has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Chris Jefferies was brought in for questioning, from his home address, at 7am this morning.

The 65-year-old owns the ground floor flat at 44 Canynge Road, Clifton, where Miss Yeates is thought to have disappeared from on the night of Friday, December 17.

The 25-year-old architect had been out with work colleagues for drink at the Ram pub on Park Street, before walking home via Waitrose on Clifton Triangle, Bargain Booze and Tesco Express in Clifton Village.

Her strangled body was found on Christmas morning by a couple out walking their dogs, off Longwood Lane, Failand.

A police spokesman said: "Just after 7am this morning, police attended an address in Canynge Road and arrested a 65-year-old man on suspicion of murder. He has been taken into custody at a police station in the Avonand Somerset force area."
