I know I'm in danger of sounding like a bit of a grumpy old man, but I for one am glad the council is going to do something about the parking problem on the Downs.

I have been round there a number of times when people have parked on the grass and I think it must be damaging to the environment and irresponsible.

But I think the bigger problem is the amount of litter that seems to be left behind there. I'm sure most people take their rubbish home, but I have been amazed at the amount of food wrappers, disposable barbecues and beer cans left behind there some times.

Is there more that should be done to sort that out as well?
