A business consultant has launched a guide to the main thing that drives successful people forward – their own bodies and lifestyle.
Fiona Slade, who lives in Tickenham, near Bristol has spent seven years producing the ultimate guide to working and living healthily and successfully.
Called Work Life Body her book contains all the invaluable information people need about themselves and has been compiled after Fiona identified that health and fitness could be such a major concern.
She said: “As a business consultant I was always going in to talk to people about their business and almost inevitably ended up talking to them about the fact that they were suffering from stress, illness, pain, unable to sleep or had no time to get to the gym or eat properly.
“Then I realised I was just as bad myself and in 2001 I reached a stage where I had to stop and do some serious thinking about what I was doing and my body had reached the stage where it wasn’t going to put up with me any longer.”
Fiona then decided to study what we need to know about lifestyle and the body and went on courses and read books on health, fitness, anatomy, physiology, allergies, energy levels, the immune system and sleep.
Now she has put all that acquired knowledge into one easy to read book with humorous illustrations from Bath cartoonist Sally Artz. Fiona has also joined forces with fitness and lifestyle specialists to deliver seminars and training in the workplace on health and lifestyle.
She said: “The book has been created to be a practical guide for people and we are running the courses for businesses alongside it. Ill health causes us all serious misery and inconvenience and costs the UK economy £13 billion a year but we believe that a lot of this can be saved if people just looked after themselves a bit more and were more aware of the effect their lifestyle is having on their health.
“By being more aware of how the body works and providing it with the things it needs we can make a real difference to our lives and help the UK economy with less sick days.”
