Dings Crusaders are one of the traditional powerhouses of Bristol rugby.

The senior team play in National League Two South and, along with Clifton, is the highest-ranking amateur club in the area.

Dings' junior section was set up by Bert White and has produced some exceptional rugby talent.

The 42-time capped Scotland prop David Hilton started his rugby career as a 16-year-old with Dings and club captain Stean Williams has represented England at every level except the full test side.

Other former junior Crusaders are dotted around at high-profile clubs. Richard Skuse is at Premiership out-fit London Irish, while fly-half Mark 'Woody' Woodrow has played in this season's Heineken Cup with Italian club Viadana.

Phil Henson, Steve Lloyd, Paul 'Jake' Lloyd and Huw Duggan have all played for Bristol and Nick Marment was a regular starter for Gloucester.

Waylon Gasson, Paul Finkin (both Newbury) and Luke Plummer (Cinderford) have all graced National League One rugby clubs.

Dings run seven sides at youth level, ranging from Under-8s up to Under-16s, and also have a very strong colts side, who are in the quarter-finals of the National Colts Plate.

The Lockleaze club's aim is to provide the best coaching available to their membership and have a small army of coaches and volunteers, some qualified to RFU level 3 standard, at their disposal.

Former youth players now help, and are keen to put something back into their club.

The youth section trains on Tuesday and Thursday at Landseer Avenue.
