Any visit to the Clifton Suspension Bridge should include the observatory and Camera Obscura, if for nothing more than to take a look at something quite ingenious in a Victorian way. Probably best viewed on a sunny day but the obscura does work and there's something quite furtive and voyeuristic about being able to see what people are upto from inside the dark confines of the observatory. Might make you think about what you get upto on the Downs and think you're not being seen. Head down to the caves in the Avon Gorge from the observatory while you're there, great views, as you'd expect.
