I have no idea what the original purpose was - has anyone found out? Traffic-calming measure? It seems a pity they haven't included a safe place on each to actually stand and wait while trying to cross though...given that was one of the problems with Whiteladies!

You're right, Tilly, the trees do look quite nice. But were they put there to look lovely or to do a purpose?

I actually think it looks nice - but not sure how much thought they put into traffic flow issues!

If an ambulance is unable to get through traffic because of these new "allotments", then they must be removed immediately.
