Great value good food!!

The Anchor Inn has become one of my favourite pubs to visit on a sunday, the roast dinners at 2 for £10 are excellent value, the meat is always expertly cooked and always served with plenty of veg and potatoes, there is a good selection of real ale, of which I can highly recommend as one of the best pints in bristol it is kept very well, there is a good selection of wine also. I would and do recomment this place to friends regularly.

    The reality of it

I have just returned from sunday lunch service at the Anchor and it was very disappointing, the dry white wine was smelling and tasting of vinegar and the Thatcher's cider was off. Even the cokes were very heavy in the soda content. The staff didn't know what veg is served with the roast. The actual meal itself was horrid. The meat was very poor quality, overcooked beef for my girlfriend and very fatty pork in brown beef gravy for me. The peas and carrots were soggy. About the only good thing was the yorkshire pudding (which i suspect was out of a packet) and maybe the roast potatoes at a push because I was hungry. All in all a very miserable experience and never will I be seen there again. Takeaway for me now, as I think I have been put off roasts for a while...

ReportI am sorry to read this report, and would like to invite the person reporting to return to the pub for a free meal, we are a busy pub on a sunday and the feedback I get is usually very good and we pride ourselves on the service provided and quality of our meals. I am not sure why on this visit our service and food was so poor as this is certainly not the norm.

    Great local

This is one of my Clifton favourites. The Anchor Inn is a good pub but what makes it better is the food. Not that many pubs are providing enough choice on their menu's let alone good food!
