Piri Piri Corner, which has another outlet in Stapleton, launched its second chain in The Triangle, Clifton.
The official VIP launch was conducted by professional boxer and former world champion in the super middleweight category, Glenn Catley, who cut the ceremonial ribbon.
Piri Piri owners Janad Raja and Shabir Hussain, said they are thrilled to be investing in these difficult economic times and plan further ventures over the coming year.
Janad said: "We are a family business that has spent £120,000 on the building and the restaurant and are delighted to be investing in Bristol, while so many other businesses are closing down.
"Our first chain has been a huge success and we are therefore looking to build upon this achievement by launching a new venue every six months around Bristol and Bath.
"This is an exciting time for the business and in a time of recession this is a very positive opening for Piri Piri corner."
Piri Piri Corner brings the authentic taste of Piri Piri Portuguese cuisine, which uses the Pili Pili chilli, to the UK.
The chillies were first introduced the Portuguese settlers in Mozambique who began to use it in their own daily cooking.
Today Portugal is known for its Piri Piri sauce and Pir Piri corner offers this spicy sauce on much of its menu from its burgers, to its chicken and wraps.
