The Alma Tavern and Theatre changed hands in early August and has since seen a substantial refurbishment. We have a new chef and a brand new menu as well as a fresh and enthusiastic management team. The theatre is to remain a key feature with the addition of some live music and upgraded facilities. Please come and see the new look Alma, it has somewhat changed. Many thanks, J & Z

Friendly local serving good quality pub food in a relaxed traditional pub atmosphere. Smoke-free throughout with good sized beer garden.

If you fancy eating a page out of the Daily Mirror along with your food order Fish, Chips and Mushy Peas at the Alma Tavern. Someone with a severely limited understanding of food hygiene has decided that it's a Really Good Idea to serve up the food directly onto a sheet of newspaper. That's right - no greaseproof paper which of course means that you can end up eating newsprint along with your mushy peas as the paper just dissolves into the food! The (real) food itself was quite OK but make sure you insist on no newsprint as a side order. Ugh!

Why do you go to the pub? Witty conversation, good beer and food? Add a theatre to the list and pop upstairs with your pint to catch a good play. Theme pubs could never match this.

This is an awesome little pub with, believe it or not, its own Theatre attached! Hidden away just off Whiteladies Road it avoids the usual pub crawl routes so is excellent for a quiet pint. The excellent pub quiz (Monday @ 20:30) is usually a sellout so be sure to turn up early or better yet call up and book a table!
